Micro Scooter® History:

The Micro Scooter® success story began 15 years ago as a matter of convenience. Wim Ouboter, a former banker, was looking for a practical solution to reduce his journey time from his office to his favourite take-away. Wim was unable to find a product on the market which was suitable for such a purpose so he constructed the first foldable mini scooter. In no time at all, the kids in the neighbourhood began using this unusual form of transport and it became a huge attraction. His wife immediately saw the potential of this product and urged him to begin production of the micro scooter. During the boom period and towards the end of 2000, around 80,000 micro scooters were being sold each day. Due to this massive success there were inevitably many similar but inferior scooters making their way from China into the market place, but micro, with its innovative product line and a wide product range is still a success story today. Out of necessity, micro developed a vehicle that made it easier and more fun to travel a “micro” distance. They needed a mode of mobility that was lightweight and easy to ride. It also had to fold up, so that it could be tucked out of the way when it was no longer needed whilst out and about. In Europe today every adult and child is familiar with the result - the scooter they developed is already a classic - yet it is still the leading edge best-seller.
